Dan Marino Names His Mt. Rushmore Of All-Time NFL Quarterbacks

February 21st, 2024

Most NFL fans mention Dan Marino when discussing the greatest quarterbacks in league history, and rightfully so. The Pitt product had over 61,000 passing yards and 420 touchdowns during his career with the Dolphins.

Marino, however, wouldn't include himself in his Mt. Rushmore of great quarterbacks.

During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, the Hall of Famer listed a few rivals in his Mt. Rushmore.

"To me, [Joe] Montana and [John] Elway, Jim Kelly—those guys, all those guys," Marino said. "Patrick Mahomes, he’s going to be considered one of the best ever. You got Tom Brady, you got a lot of guys. So, there’s a lot to pick from there.”

When asked if he'd consider including himself, Marino had a humble response.

"Nah I'm not going to do that," Marino said. "That's for someone else to say. But I feel like I could play with all those guys."

It's hard to argue against Montana and Elway being part of Marino's list due to their individual statistics and team accomplishments. The same goes for Brady and Mahomes.

Kelly didn't win a Super Bowl like the rest of the group, but he's a five-time Pro Bowler and was a play away from reaching the top of the mountain during the 1990 season.
