Take This Road Trip To The Most Charming Coastal Towns In Alabama

December 28th, 2021

Alabama is filled with many charming towns, including several that are located on the state’s beautiful Gulf Coast. One of the best ways to experience these towns is to take a road trip. Listed below is a road trip route that’ll take you to six of Alabama’s most charming coastal towns. Because this road trip is expected to only last a couple of hours one way, it could easily be taken in a single day. However, it’s best to make it a weekend trip so you’ll be able to spend the perfect amount of time in each town.

1. Gulf Shores

Your road trip will begin in Gulf Shores. This charming coastal town, which is known for its beautiful white-sand beaches, is located in Baldwin County and is one of Alabama's top vacation spots.

2. Foley

Following a short drive, you'll arrive in Foley. Like Gulf Shores, Foley is also located in Baldwin County. It's home to the Foley Railroad Museum, which is one of Alabama's most popular attractions among train enthusiasts.

3. Magnolia Springs

Garmin Outdoor Products

Your next stop will be Magnolia Springs, which is also located in Baldwin County. What makes this small Alabama town so unique, other than its magnificent tunnel of trees, is the fact that it's the only town in the U.S. that has a year-round mail delivery service by water.

4. Fairhope

Following a short drive north, you'll arrive in Fairhope. Located on the eastern shore of Alabama's Mobile Bay, this coastal town, which is also located in Baldwin County, is an absolute must-visit if you're interested in taking a weekend getaway.

5. Daphne

Your next stop will be Daphne, which, like the previous towns, is also located in Baldwin County. Known as "The Jubilee City," Daphne is a great destination for anyone who loves the outdoors because it offers everything from parks and preserves to beaches and trails.

6. Dauphin Island

And finally, after driving for about an hour, you'll arrive in Dauphin Island. Over the years, this Mobile County town, which is known as the "Sunset Capital of Alabama," has become a popular vacation destination. It's also the state's southernmost point.
