Katie Ledecky, arguably the most dominant athlete on Team USA heading into the Summer Olympics in Paris, France, has been dominating the Olympic Trials in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Earlier this summer, the dominant United States swimmer was asked for her opinion on transgender athletes. Swimming has been one of the most-talked about sports when it comes to transgender athletes, due to Lia Thomas and her dominance at Penn.
But Ledecky declined to answer the question, perhaps indicating that her opinion isn't one she wants to share right now.
From the New York Times:
The issue has thrust swimming into a contentious cultural discourse.
Ms. Ledecky said she preferred not to weigh in. But she added: “I think we’re lucky to live in a country where issues can be debated, whether it’s that issue or any other issue. It’s how I feel. I think it’s important to learn perspectives of others and gain an understanding of things and learn more about where everyone comes from.”
Ledecky surely doesn't want any distractions heading into the Summer Olympics, so it's not too surprising that she chose not to answer the question.
But perhaps by declining to answer, she revealed where she stood, anyway.
