Calls Mount for Deion Sanders to Replace Major College Football Coach

August 30th, 2024

One week into college football and Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders is already a name of interest for fans of one major college football program.

Sanders and the Buffaloes kicked off the 2024 season with an FCS opponent, but not your run-of-the-mill lower-division team like those that Tennessee, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Louisville, etc. all ran off the field by 60+ points. Nope, Colorado faced multi-time national champion program North Dakota State Bison.

The Bison proved their worth and hung with Colorado for a while, but the Buffaloes ultimately pulled through. Following that result for Sanders and a terrible, no good, very bad first two games of their season, Florida State Seminoles fans were ready to restart in 2025 with Sanders at the helm.

The Seminoles are off to a brutal start to their year and in front of the whole nation, too. They were the first FBS team to kick off the season in Week 0 and lost to Georgia Tech in Dublin, Ireland.

Then, FSU returned to their home stadium and were the only FBS game on Labor Day facing Boston College. Welp, Bill O'Brien's squad put the smackdown on the 'Noles from the jump and led wire-to-wire in a 28-13 victory.

As another dreadful loss unfolded, fans suggested that Mike Norvell's time be cut short in favor of Deion Sanders. One account, named nelson mandela, believes it's a match made in heaven.

"Deion Sanders (when it inevitably implodes at Colorado) and Florida State (once they inevitably get sick of Norvell ) are honestly made for each other in 2 years," he posted on X. "Think Deion at a legit program and in Florida actually works and FSU will be desperate enough by then to try."

"Only person can fix Florida State is @DeionSanders," added an account named Coach Top.

"I want to congratulate Deion Sanders on getting the Florida State job next year," added a guy named Rob Wilkins.

"Is it too early for the Deion Sanders to Florida State rumors?" asked cOde Orange. "Or, is he locked in at Colorado? Asking for a few friends!"

Of course, Deion Sanders did play college football for the Florida State Seminoles back in the day. If the job ever came open — and there's no sign it will, even with a bad year in '24 — you'd have to think he'd consider making the leap to a larger brand and his own alma mater.
