2019

Synopsis

Ten years of fan frustration finally reached the boiling point... On Sunday, November 26, 2017, the University of Tennessee attempted to hire a football coach. It didn’t happen. In "Decade of Dysfunction," Nagi examines what caused the revolt that squashed the hiring of Greg Schiano. It was an uprising that not only brought forth a national backlash, but also led to the return of a Tennessee legend. This edition also includes a bonus chapter recapping the 2018 season, the first for head coach Jeremy Pruitt in Knoxville. Interview subjects include former Tennessee players Malik Foreman, Cody Pope, Jayson Swain, Fred White and many others. The author also spoke with former Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin, plus former Tennessee assistant coaches Zach Azzanni, Trooper Taylor and others. Mark interviewed former Tennessee athletic department representatives David Blackburn, Roger Hover, Brian Rice, and others. Interviews were also conducted with numerous Tennessee and national sports media members, plus many Tennessee fans, whose insights were invaluable.
