UN-INNOVATION: Why a Divided America is Bad for the Future of Technology

2021

Synopsis

As social division intensifies across the United States, the destruction left in its wake will reverberate through every aspect of our lives. This polarization will have devastating effects on emerging technologies, sending shockwaves through national security and education to civic development and global sustainability.

UN-INNOVATION is the story of a future where technology is more rapidly adapting, and more pervasive, than ever before – and where our policymakers are unequipped, and unwilling, to work together and pass meaningful legislation ushering in these new technologies.

By analyzing statewide technology policies over the span of four decades (e.g., AI, Airbnb, blockchain, Uber, and more), public and private sector leaders alike will be challenged to think about technology, public policy, and politics in a whole new light. Our time is short, but there is still hope that it may not be too late to change our current path. UN-INNOVATION is the playbook to change America’s course.
